BOSTON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Benjamin Zander, Conductor
Gwyneth Wentink, Harp

Performance: 8:00 p.m.

Presented by Music Worcester, Inc.
Sponsored by TD Bank

This season, the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra offers a program that is a virtual riot of color, verve and virtuosity that opens with Sensemayá, a compressed rhythmically intoxicating, seven-minute evocation of Latin American musical styles, and includes Ginastera's spectacular Harp Concerto, full of the pounding Argentinean dance rhythms for which he is so famous. Guest soloist, Gwyneth Wentink, Dutch harp virtuoso, has come to be regarded worldwide as the finest harpist of her generation.

And then comes The Rite of Spring ... its power to astonish and overwhelm undiminished after a century. This, quite simply, is the hottest program the BPO has ever presented. What makes Maestro Zander's concerts truly extraordinary are his lively pre-concert talks, which are an integral part of the BPO experience.
