SUMMARY:The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 21\, 2026 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Doors open at 2:15pm) \nDoors open at 2:15pm \n\n“In The Mood” for swing music?\nTake a step back in time with the most popular and sought after big band of all time! The World-Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform their greatest hits\, including “In The Mood\,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo\,” “American Patrol\,” “A\nString Of Pearls\,” “Little Brown Jug\,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000\,” “Tuxedo Junction\,” and of course their theme song “Moonlight Serenade” as they continue their national tour. \nThe 15 member orchestra\, their lead singers\, and vocal group will perform their catalog of big band classics just the way they would have over 80 years ago when Glenn Miller stood in front of his band. It is a show that continues to transport audiences back in time and is as nostalgic as it is exciting. \nTouring continuously since 1956\, The Glenn Miller Orchestra is featured in over 200 concerts and dances per year. Each performance includes the timeless classics that made them famous the world over in a show that has moved audiences for generations. \n \n\nAbout Glenn Miller \nAfter years as a writer and sideman Glenn Miller decided to form his own band in in March of 1938 and the rest is history! The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930’s and 40’s. A matchless string of hit records\, the constant impact of radio broadcasts\, and the drawing power at theaters and ballrooms built and sustained the momentum of popularity. Glenn disbanded his orchestra in 1942 at the height of its popularity to volunteer for the Army. There he organized and led the famous Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band\nand toured Europe to entertain servicemen performing numerous live and radio shows. On December 15\, 1944\, Major Miller left on a flight that disappeared over the English Channel and was never seen again. With the release of the major motion movie The Glenn Miller Story in 1954\, interest and popular demand led the Miller Estate to authorize the formation of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. On June 6\, 1956\, under the direction of drummer Ray McKinley who had become the unofficial leader of the Army Air Force Band after Glenn’s disappearance\, the reformed Glenn Miller Orchestra performed its first concert and has been touring ever since. Today\, the ensemble continues to play the original Miller arrangements both from the civilian band and the AAFB libraries. Just as it was in the 1930’s and 40’s\, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is still the most sought after big band in the world today. \n\nBEWARE OF FRAUDULENT TICKET SELLERS\nIt has come to our attention that fraudulent “sellers” are advertising and selling tickets to this event at higher than face-value prices.  \nMechanics Hall ONLY sells tickets through our ticketing platform Purple Pass\, through the www.mechanicshall.org website. SUMMARY:Handel Messiah
DESCRIPTION:Tickets are sold exclusively through Music Worcester  \nClick here to purchase online\, or call 508-754-3231 \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Worcester Chorus celebrates the season with their annual presentation of this cherished holiday staple\, known for the jubilant and dramatic “Hallelujah” chorus. Attending Messiah has become a beloved tradition for many families and choral music fans in the Greater Worcester community and beyond. \nThis year’s concert features the return of the soloists who were featured in 2025 to high acclaim. \nHandel was a star of his era\, and wrote music that stands the test of time. Messiah is the story of Jesus Christ\, set in three parts (“acts”) that alternate between recitatives\, arias\, and choruses. What was originally written for Easter has now become a Christmas tradition\, as the work tells the story of Christ from birth through death and glory. Ensembles across the world gather to perform this work year after year\, whether it’s in full or simply performing the “Hallelujah” chorus. \n  \nPlease note: program\, venue\, time\, and artist are subject to change. \n\n\n\n\n\n
