The Worcester County Mechanics Association was founded in 1842 by the leaders of America’s Industrial Revolution centered in the Blackstone River Valley from Worcester to Rhode Island. The Association built Mechanics Hall in 1857 to serve as a vital hub for education and culture, offering classroom space for industrial arts, a technical lending library, and gathering spaces for lectures, performances, and social movements, including anti-slavery, temperance, and women’s rights.
For nearly 170 years, Mechanics Hall has been integral to the social, cultural, civic, and educational aspirations of Worcester. Recognized as one of the finest pre-Civil War performance halls in the nation and favored by musicians and recording artists among the world’s great concert halls, Mechanics Hall is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
It’s only natural for the business community to support Worcester’s iconic treasure. By partnering with us, your business can take pride in fostering cultural and educational programming, preserving our historic landmark, and enjoying benefits such as marketing exposure and employee engagement.
