Encore will feature performances by various artists with strong connections to Mechanics Hall, including the Mechanics Hall Youth Singers.
Kathleen Gagne has devoted 30 years of her life to Mechanics Hall. The last 7 as Executive Director. She has a deep appreciation for the history and cultural significance of Mechanics Hall, and has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the venue. Gagne started at Mechanics Hall 30 years ago after a conversation with a friend on a soccer field, initially as the publicist. She immersed herself in learning the history and significance of Mechanics Hall, which is considered one of the finest pre-Civil War performance halls in the country. As executive director for the past 7 years, Gagne has focused on increasing musical programming, preserving the historic building, and engaging the community. It’s been a dream job for Gagne, “I’ve never, ever in all those years woken up in the morning and said, oh, I have to go to work today.” She says she’s ready for what comes next, “I want to get really smart about something I don’t know anything about yet.”
