Spawning from BT ALC Big Band, BT ALC Small Band is a unit smaller in size, that packs the same punch of hard hitting grooves and virtuosic solos that keep the audience mesmerized! Their repertoire has been reimagined to fit the 7 piece lineup allowing for more possibilities to explore and improvise.
Since the group’s formation in 2010, BT ALC Big Band, led by trombonist Brian Thomas and trumpeter Alex Lee-Clark, have gained a reputation for hard grooving original compositions featuring the most talented jazz and funk musicians in Boston and beyond. BT ALC Big Band draws from the big band traditions of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Thad Jones and infuses music from funk legends like James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, and The Meters, creating an undeniably unique sound, Big Band Funk.

The Brown Bag Concert Series, presented by Mechanics Hall and 90.5 FM WICN, has been a beloved tradition in Worcester since 1983. These hour-long concerts by acclaimed regional and national performers are held in the Great Hall on select Wednesdays from noon to 1pm.

Cabaret-style seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. All concerts are free, open to the public, and subject to change.

The accessible entrance to Mechanics Hall is located on Waldo Street. Elevators are located in the ground-floor lobby and provide access to the second and third floors. Please note, there is no elevator access to the balcony. All concerts take place in the Great Hall on the third floor. If you need assistance, please contact Mechanics Hall at 508-752-5608.

Accessible Halls
All of our halls are wheelchair-accessible, where patrons can remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to theater seats. Patrons who cannot or do not wish to transfer from their wheelchairs to a theater seat should request wheelchair-seat locations when ordering tickets. The Great Hall balcony is not wheel-chair accessible.
