The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra
The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra is Worcester’s premiere resident symphony orchestra. Founded in 1948 and based at Worcester’s Tuckerman Hall, the orchestra performs a variety of concerts throughout the year before thousands of concert-goers. The orchestra has accompanied such luminaries as Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli at Worcester’s DCU Center. This past summer MSO completed its 73rd season of free outdoor concerts in Worcester’s Institute Park, including its fireworks concerts for the July 4th holiday in front of one of the largest crowds ever assembled at that park. This season’s activities include performances with the legendary American Neo-classical new age ensemble Mannheim Steamroller at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA and at Worcester’s Hanover Theatre. This season also includes a new concert series at Tuckerman Hall called A Little Night Music featuring extraordinary pianist Andrew Armstrong and an array of world-class musicians.
